Lah-Lah’s Big Live Band will perform in the Concert Hall, the biggest and grandest Sydney Opera House venue from 25 – 26 June as part of the new Family Proms series in the Kids at the House 2011 program.

In this all-new family show, Lah-Lah and Buzz the Bandleader need help from the audience to create the biggest and grooviest big band in town!

Joining them on stage are their fun and fabulous friends: Tom Tom the Drums, Mister Saxophone, Squeezy Sneezy the Accordion and Lola the Dancing Double Bass. Together they explore Lah-Lah’s musical family tree of big band instruments including trumpets, trombones and saxophones.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to perform Lah-Lah in a bigger than big venue but nothing can top how amazing it’s going to be standing in the Concert Hall in front of a 15 piece big band. This is my ultimate music dream come true!” Tina Harris (Lah-Lah)

Following the success of Babies Proms (which is celebrating its 30th Anniversary in 2011) Family Proms is a new initiative at Sydney Opera House aimed at primary school aged children. Each Family Proms show will be held in the Concert Hall and offers young audiences the chance to experience music on a larger scale such as a big band or a full orchestra for the first time.

Created by professional Sydney based musicians and music educators Tina Harris and Mark Harris, Lah-Lah is a five member children's music group and features some of Australia's premiere performers in the fields of jazz, classical and pop music.

Tina and Mark Harris compose the majority of Lah-Lah’s repertoire and their aim is to promote the highest quality of original music for young audiences. Tina Harris also runs Kindermusik classes in Sydney’s Inner West for 0-5 year olds.

Lah-Lah is a popular children’s show on Nick Jr, introducing children to the magical world of music.

Family Proms is part of our Kids at the House program which provides a year-long series of performances and creative experiences for young people. The next show in the Family Proms series is Sydney Symphony’s Family Classics on 6 August.
