Sydney Opera House today announced that Victoria Doidge has accepted a contract to take the position of Director, Marketing and Development following Naomi Grabel’s two year tenure in the role.
New Sydney Opera House Chief Executive, Richard Evans, is delighted that Ms Doidge will be joining the executive team under his leadership.
Mr Evans said today, Victoria brings significant experience in marketing, media, brand management and digital technology to the team. She has considerable commercial entertainment marketing, performance arts marketing and fundraising experience. Her expertise in the area of digital technology will be a particular asset to Sydney Opera House as we explore opportunities to expand our reach using new media.
More importantly, Victoria has developed excellent relationships with the Opera House’s presenting partners throughout her career and will bring to the company a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities intrinsic to the performing arts.
Ms Doidge most recently held the position of Chief Marketing Officer for global digital marketing services provider, BlueFreeway. Prior to her role at BlueFreeway, she held the position as Director Market Development for the Sydney Symphony, a presenting partner of Sydney Opera House.
Ms Doidge was a co-founder and director of Australia’s first online music destination, ChaosMusic, launched in 1998 and listed on the ASX in 1999. Victoria also worked in the marketing team for Australia’s first Internet Service Provider OzEmail, prior to its listing on the NASDAQ in the mid 90s. Victoria is a senior member of the Australian Marketing Institute and a Director of Griffin Theatre.
Mr Evans added, I am pleased that Victoria will be able to build on the momentum generated under Naomi Grabel’s leadership. Naomi has set up a sound platform for the further development of the Opera House by overseeing the brand revitalisation and the introduction of an Annual Fund Program.
Victoria will commence her new role with Sydney Opera House on 18 February 2008. Her portfolio will include Sydney Opera House marketing, public relations, ticketing services, sponsorship and philanthropy.
