Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum…
Join our cheeky and mischievous Jack (Ian Stenlake) as he gets into all sorts of trouble with a very big beanstalk in our first Babies Prom for 2010.
Now in its 30th year, Babies Proms introduces kids aged 2 to 5 to the joys of live music and story telling in a relaxed, informal and interactive environment.
Writer-director Sally Blackwood has reinterpreted Joseph Jacobs’ 1890 fairytale into a magical musical adventure.
Told through song, storytelling and shadow puppetry, audiences will be able to sing and clap along as all the favourite characters come to life.
Jumping fearlessly into all sorts of adventures, 10-year-old Jack will lead the audience up the beanstalk and into an enchanted world beyond the clouds.
On the edge of fairyland, Jack finds a Giant living in a shiny black castle, a hen that lays gold eggs and a singing harp.
Can he resist the treasures and will he be quick enough, strong enough or clever enough to make it back home to his mum (Blazey Best)?
Musical director and conductor George Ellis will lead the Babies Proms Orchestra through a selection of numbers from the musical Into the Woods and his own original songs.
Ian Stenlake (Sea Patrol, Guys & Dolls) works at the highest level in Australian film, television and theatre. He was last seen at the Opera House in Dougal the Garbage Dump Bear in 2007.
