"Noonan's soaring, beautifully phrased high notes, ultra-musical communication of meaning and expressive use of the microphone and digital technologies were stunning." The Australian
Katie Noonan's technical mastery and pure voice have made her one of Australia's most versatile and beloved vocalists.
A mother, singer-songwriter, producer and pianist, Katie first received widespread praise as the angel-voiced leader of indie-pop band George and has since taken audiences on sublime excursions through jazz, pop and classical music.
The five-time platinum songstress will return to the Sydney Opera House to perform her deliciously over-the-top alternative pop at the grand piano for one show only on Sunday, October 31.
A truly beautiful night of music making, this will be the first opportunity to hear Katie perform tracks from her latest critically acclaimed album Emperor’s Box, accompanied by a luscious chamber string orchestra and soloists.
Sumptuous will also include a selection of songs from her back catalogue including her folk trio’s self titled album Elixir, the gold-selling top 10 album solo album Skin and smash hit tracks from George.
Co-produced by Katie and Grammy Award winning engineer/producer Nick Didia, Emperor’s Box marks an exciting return to form for Katie – back to her beloved lush, organic band sound and strong and inspiring personal stores.
The album has been widely critically acclaimed, with Rolling Stone giving a glowing 4-star review: “a sumptuous and skewed take on the art form that combines the experimental beauty of Sigur Ros and Radiohead with the dark, dreamy atmospherics of 27”.
Katie has also worked with the country’s top orchestra’s including her recent fruitful collaboration with Richard Tognetti and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
