From the heart of Cuba, to four sell-out seasons in London’s West End and playing to packed houses all over the world, the smash-hit Cuban dance spectacular Havana Rakatan
finally comes to Sydney.
Taking over the Opera Theatre for a high-energy season in June, Havana Rakatan is a sexy feel-good show that unleashes a Cuban heatwave of live music from 7-piece band Turquino and Cuba’s hottest dancers, who embody the passion and party spirit of the Caribbean’s most musical island.
Celebrating 500 years of Cuban dance, the company shimmy their way through a mind-boggling dance repertoire, tearing up the stage with stunning choreography that takes from traditional folkloric dance and mixes it up with the sexy moves of Havana’s dancefloors, street parties and popular salsa clubs.
From the raw energy of sensual Afro-Cuban rumba, to the slick footwork of the mambo, cha-cha-cha and stunning salsa routines, the intoxicating rhythms carry the audience on a captivating journey through the culture of a truly unique country. The authentic heart and soul of Cuba comes alive on a dazzling stage set reminiscent of the golden era of Havana’s glamorous clubs, showcasing both Afro-Cuban folkloric beats and popular tunes including the famous Chan Chan (signature song of the Buena Vista Social Club).
Havana Rakatan brings together all the exotic elements of Cuban dance culture and guarantees to transport audiences to the steamy streets, dance halls and nightclubs of the Caribbean’s hottest dancing city.Season Details
