“Majestic stuff from an international treasure” – Evening Standard

Sydney Opera House presents An Evening with Nitin Sawney, a special, one-off concert showcasing the career of one of the world’s most influential composers and performers, in the Concert Hall on Tuesday 4 September.

Atmospheric, captivating and powerful, Sawhney’s live performances are a lush musical odyssey.  Sawhney’s exquisitely crafted, intelligent arrangements blend his diverse musical influences, from traditional south-asian instrumentation to electronic, flamenco and drum & bass.

For his Concert Hall debut, Sawhney will be joined by Aref Durvesh on Tabla and Dholak,  Ian Burdge on Cello, Ashwin Srinivasan on Bansuri flute & vocals and Martyn Kaine on Drums, as well as guest vocalists Tina Grace, Nicki Wells and Rahel.

Sawney is a virtuosic musical figure with an astonishing output as a producer, composer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist. With 9 studio albums, over fifty film scores, his own BBC Radio 2 show, regular DJ appearances at London’s Fabric and various festivals, Sawhney is considered a modern day Renaissance-man . His many accomplishments include a Mercury Award nomination, a South Bank Award, four honorary doctorates and countless awards and accolades for his scores for orchestra, theatre, dance and videogames.
