Creative Producer: Brett Haylock
After a sell-out season in 2012, the madcap family of stars from LA SOIRÉE are returning to Sydney Opera House. Expect the unexpected as new performers and some of your favourites take centre stage. The Studio will be transformed to a stunning salon to showcase the world’s greatest exponents of cabaret, new burlesque, circus sideshow and vaudeville.
In the last twelve months LA SOIRÉE has charmed Paris, delighted Hamburg and got a little bit frisky with Melbourne and now it returns to Sydney for another summer of fun!
The January return of LA SOIRÉE will bring to the Sydney stage the amazing Marawa, a virtuoso of the Hula Hoop and a demon on skates and Montreal's Cabaret Decadanse with a rollicking, sassy, sexy and hilarious puppet feast for adults.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the chaos as the Chaplin-esque Nate Cooper delivers a jaw dropping performance that is sure to put you in stitches. On the street in New Zealand or in an arena in Las Vegas, Cooper delightfully charms the pants off of himself. Captain Frodo will also return, famed the world over for bending, contorting and manipulating his body into shapes that are as astonishing as they are unnatural. You will never look at a tennis racquet in the same way again!
Of course LA SOIRÉE would not be complete without some if its favourites. David O’Mer, the Adonis in denim is back as Bath Boy to get the Studio damp once again, joined by Mario Queen of the Circus keeping the acts (and sometimes the audience) in line.
Special guest stars will light up the season with surprise appearances that’ll make you want to return again and again, so stay tuned for news of what’s in LA SOIRÉE.
LA SOIRÉE debuted at Sydney Opera House in January 2012 as part of the annual Summer at the House Program. It went on to play for a record breaking 12 weeks, the longest season ever at the Opera House.
LA SOIRÉE is part of Sydney Opera House 2013 Summer at the House.
