"Transfixing to watch. He commands the huge stage, contorting his limbs around his guitar as he propels himself hither and thither."
THE GUARDIAN

Sydney Opera House today announced Sweden’s folk troubadour Kristian Matsson aka, The Tallest Man On Earth will make his Concert Hall debut on Tuesday 5 March.

Armed only with his voice and his guitar, The Tallest Man On Earth’s performances are a sight to behold. Described by Pitchfork as “a natural-born folk singer, earnest, clever and comforting,” the connection Matsson creates with his audience through his melodic sensibility, humble wordplay and deft fingerpicking have made him one of the most captivating solo performers in recent years.

Emerging in 2006 with an independently released self-titled EP, Matsson came to prominence with the release of his critically acclaimed debut, Shallow Grave in 2008 – an LP that garnered praise from the likes of NPR and Pitchfork, and saw the singer-songwriter invited to join Bon Iver on his 2008 North American tour.

In 2010 Matsson followed with the release of his sophomore album The Wild Hunt, a release that attracted a four-star review from The Independent UK, which also noted how the “high, piercing snarl of [his voice] vividly brings to mind the teenage tyro twang of Dylan’s debut.” Hailed as the next generation of folk troubadour, Matsson released a second EP that same year, the austere Sometimes the Blues is Just A Passing Bird that also attracted positive reviews and continued to see his following grow with a stunning performance on Later… With Jools Holland.

In 2012 Mattson released his third full-length album There's No Leaving Now. Recorded in his home studio in Dalarna over the winter months of late 2011 and early 2012, the album is a stunning collection of absorbing, eloquent songs with an added layer of arrangement not heard on The Tallest Man On Earth’s earlier work. There's No Leaving Now solidifies the beginning of an incredible journey told through stories of hope and defeat, loss and love.

Described by The Guardian UK as “transfixing to watch. He commands the huge stage, contorting his limbs around his guitar as he propels himself hither and thither,” The Tallest Man On Earth’s powerful performances have seen him captivate audiences at festivals and headlining shows across the globe. From performances at festivals Coachella, Green Man, Roskilde, Pitchfork and Sasquatch to sold-out headlining performances at Webster Hall in New York, The Fillmore in San Francisco and Shepherd's Bush Empire in London - his passion for performance bleeds through every time he takes to the stage.
