MEDIA RELEASE
30 JANUARY 2013
THE WAU WAU SISTERS JOIN LA SOIRÉENOW PLAYING UNTIL 10 MARCH
The duo's command over the large crowd is no surprise. They are, after all, two scantily clad young ladies crooning dirty songs. They are also, however, highly skilled circus performers and aerialists who unleash their lewd material with great cheer and singular archness.
THE VILLAGE VOICE
From February 12, New York’s bravest and bawdiest burlesque duo, The Wau Wau Sisters, join La Soirée for a month of jaw-dropping physical prowess and filthy fun.
Teetering in high heels and clutching cocktails, The Wau Wau Sisters, straddle the hilarious gap between performance art and burlesque. The New York Times calls them “irreverent, sacrilegious, foul-mouthed and uninhibited”. Their rock'n'roll trapeze act mixes irreverent circus with pure heavy metal adrenalin and leave the audience begging for more.
They have performed around the world from London to Las Vegas picking up awards including Best International Act at the Brighton Fringe, Best Troupe at Miss Exotic World and Best Cabaret at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
From the famously sexy David O'Mer aka Bath Boy, to the delightfully devilish English Gents and the lovable and bendy Captain Frodo; audiences will discover (or re-discover) the passion, heart, unforgettable style and good old-fashioned showmanship that have made La Soirée one of the most successful Australian entertainment exports of recent years.
La Soirée debuted at Sydney Opera House in January 2012 as part of the annual Summer at the House Program. It went on to play for a record breaking 10 weeks, the longest season ever at the Opera House. La Soirée's summer residence in the Studio must close on 10 March.
La Soirée is part of Sydney Opera House 2013 Summer at the House.
