DESIGN TAKES CENTRE STAGE AT NEW LOOK SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE SHOP

Today Sydney Opera House announced the launch of its new premium design store.

Situated on the Lower Concourse on the western side of the Sydney Opera House precinct, the Shop showcases a selection of Australian and international design products including homewares, jewellery and accessories.

Extensive renovations have completely transformed the space and the initiative marks a bold new direction in parallel with the recent re-branding of Sydney Opera House.

Serafina Froio, Commercial Manager at Sydney Opera House said:

“We are delighted to be opening this exciting chapter of our retail development.  While retaining the souvenir aspect of the business, we have made available, for the first time, a collection of products from some of the world’s most creative minds.”

“In much the same way that performers view Sydney Opera House as a creative canvass, we are seeking products which capture an aesthetic that compliments the uniqueness of the building and reflects our brand - objects that generate an emotional response.”

One designer whose works feature in the new store is Lin Utzon, daughter of Sydney Opera House architect Jørn.

Others whose work features include Australian’s Mark Harrison, Tord Boontje and Karim Rashid.

The new store is open 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm (8pm on performance nights).
