Welcome to the 2009 Utzon Music Series. Since we began this series in 2007, audiences have responded enthusiastically to these informal and intimate chamber concerts in the stunning surrounds of the Utzon Room. This has inspired me to look further into the world of possibilities that chamber music has to offer. For the first time, we are thrilled to expand the program into another of Sydney Opera House’s fine music venues – the intimate, informal and relaxed environment of The Studio.
Every concert is a jewel in this Series. We have a jazz legend joining a 2008 ARIA award winner, a much talked about work by one of the world's most controversial composers, a Russian violin virtuoso, a baroque masterpiece, a hot New York based string quartet and that's just a taste.
Join me for this exciting new series - we’ll get up close and personal with some daring new artists and be moved by some of the greatest works of chamber music ever written.

MARSHALL McGUIRE
Marshall McGuire is a renowned Australian musician and composer, commissioning more than 20 new works for harp. He was the Founding President of the New Music Network, is a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra Artistic Advisory Committee, and is also currently Executive Manager, Artistic Planning with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.

The Utzon Room
All performances in the Utzon Room commence at 5pm. Approximately 200 general admission seats per performance. Doors open at 4pm. Relax, enjoy the spectacular view and have a pre-concert drink in the venue!
The Studio
In 2009 we are delighted to expand the series into another fine Sydney Opera House venue – the intimate, informal and relaxed environment of The Studio.
All Sunday performances in The Studio commence at 5.00pm, all other performances at 7.30pm. Just 300 general admission seats per performance. Relax, have a pre-concert drink at the bar!

We understand that plans can change. Subscribers are entitled to one free ticket exchange per package to concerts within the 2009 Utzon Music Series. Any subsequent exchanges are $5.00 per exchange.
