Sydney Opera House presents
Saturday 23 August
Deborah Conway’s legendary Broad is back for a fourth year in 2008 with a new lineup of four of Australia’s finest female singer/songwriters accompanied by the RocKwiz Orchestra. Laura Jean, Dianna Corcoran, Liz Stringer and Elana Stone join Deborah Conway on the Concert Hall stage for one night only on Saturday 23 August. As they explore each other’s music, the juxtaposition of styles and talents creates an astonishing sound that will have you up in your seats yelling for more.
Deborah’s own distinctive and iconic voice will be joined on stage by the exotic and beautiful new folk voice of Laura Jean, the cool and smouldering sounds of award-winning jazz singer, Elana Stone, the soulful tenderness of accomplished roots/blues singer Liz Stringer and the 2008 Australian Country Music’s Female Artist of the Year and Golden Guitar winner, Dianna Corcoran.
Recently appointed Director of the Queensland Music Festival, Deborah developed the Broad concept as a way of highlighting the breadth of talent of upcoming female artists by showcasing their extraordinary versatility.
“This year’s line up is as incredible and varied as it’s ever been. I’m excited about getting up on stage with these gals”, said Deborah. “Previous Broads have gone on to play sell out shows around the country, become ARIA award winners and generate national and international chart topping tunes. It has been a fantastic privilege for me to have been the stepping stone from the small inner city clubs.“
After its Sydney concert Broad will tour nationally to Darwin, Brisbane and Melbourne.
