Overview
The 2011 House:Ed program promises a creative adventure for young people, with journeys to new lands and new environments – aligned with curriculum-linked performances. In the 2011 program, we are introducing a Masterclass Series for teachers and arts education practitioners as well as piloting a work experience and work placement program.
We are also reaching out through our Arts Assist subsidy program to ensure that as many children as possible, no matter their circumstances, can have access to a Sydney Opera House experience wherever or whoever they are. Since 2004, more than 10,000 students from NSW government priority-funded schools have attended House:Ed performances thanks to the Arts Assist program.
In 2011 a new direction for education at Sydney Opera House is being developed with plans for expansion and engagement in this critical area of the performing arts.

ARTS ASSIST
The Sydney Opera House’s Arts Assist program enables students from priority funded schools to attend House:Ed performances, through subsidised tickets and bus travel.
To take advantage of this, simply select a production and inform the operator that your school qualifies.
For more information contact the House:Ed team on 02 9250 7770 or email.
PLEASE NOTE: Funding is allocated on a first come first served basis and due to demand, is restricted to one experience per school. Book early to avoid disappointment.
“They were ecstatic to actually be in the Opera House – a place most have only seen in pictures. Thank you for giving our students the opportunity to experience live theatre. For many, this was their once in a life time opportunity, which was enjoyed by all.’
Assistant Principal, Cessnock East Public School
