22 May 2015– 08 June 2015

Venue: Various Venues
Presented by: Sydney Opera House

Vivid LIVE at the Sydney Opera House is a celebration of ambitious popular music within the city’s annual Vivid Sydney festival of light, music and ideas.

Description

Whether you’re wining, dining or in search of the perfect performance, come down to the House during Vivid Sydney. The harbour brims with light, and the best contemporary music artists in town take centre stage for Vivid LIVE.

Running from 22 May - 8 June, Vivid LIVE is the highlight of Sydney Opera House’s year-round contemporary music program, Music at the House.

Vivid LIVE celebrates the influential, the ambitious, and those who have had a seminal effect on popular music – creating a full-scale takeover of the Opera House's venues, rehearsal rooms, recording studio, and the Lighting of the Sails.

Since its origins under the curatorship of Brian Eno as Luminous seven years ago, Vivid LIVE has welcomed Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson, Stephen Pavlovic and residencies from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O, The Cure, Kraftwerk and The Pixies through to exclusive collaborations featuring Sufjan Stevens, Bon Iver and Giorgio Moroder.

Now in its seventh year, Vivid LIVE will be overseen by Ben Marshall, the Opera House’s Head of Contemporary Music and newly announced ongoing Vivid LIVE Festival Director. Ben has brought the likes of The National, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and Flying Lotus to the Opera House Concert Hall stage during his five year tenure at the Opera House.

Sydney Opera House is delighted to announce that the first Vivid LIVE artist is Morrissey. Morrissey will perform four Australian exclusive shows, tickets will be allocated through a balloting system opening Monday 2nd March. Details here.
The full program for Vivid Sydney festival of music, light and ideas, including Vivid LIVE at Sydney Opera House will be announced in March. To receive notification and priority ticket offers, sign up to the Sydney Opera House e-news.
