The Forecourt is currently closed to facilitate the Vehicle Access & Pedestrian Safety Project (VAPS). It is expected to reopen mid 2013.The Forecourt is a spectacular open-air venue with breathtaking Harbour views. The world-famous white sails provide a striking backdrop and unmistakable association with Sydney Opera House.
The venue has been used for concerts by artists including Crowded House, Buena Vista Social Club, Michael Buble and Jamiroquai, site-specific performances, and special events such as New Year's Eve.
The Forecourt has a granite cobblestone surface and measures approximately 85m x 25m. The granite Monumental Steps rise towards the main building and provide natural amphitheatre seating. Without permanent staging fixtures, the flexibility of the venue is maintained.
Submissions to stage an event on The Forecourt should be sent to Sydney Opera House for consideration.
