MEET NAHJI CHU (MISSCHU)
She’s the Sydney queen of rice paper rolls who is proving good Vietnamese food doesn’t have to stay in Cabramatta. Using the best and market fresh ingredients, Misschu now serves up her famous handmade finger food - with a view.
“All of my food is inspired by memories of growing up in Laos. In Sydney I started out with a fine fast food idea, working out of a small hole-in-the-wall in Darlinghurst. Now I’m at the Opera House, sharing my food on a world stage – and still pinching myself in disbelief.”
Misschu was first established as a catering business in 2005 by Nga Chu (aka Nahji) who immigrated to Australia as a refugee from Laos in 1978. Nahji’s grandparents fled Hanoi for Laos during the French occupation. In 2009, Nahji opened Misschu Tuckshop in Darlinghurst, which has fast become a Sydney hot spot.
