PLAN YOUR VISIT
The following information is available for schools planning excursions to Sydney Opera House.
Getting to the House
On the day
Please ensure that your group arrives at the venue 20 minutes prior to the performance start time. Latecomers may be excluded.
The safety and security of our guests is paramount to Sydney Opera House. We require all items larger than the dimensions of a standard A4 piece of paper to be cloaked. As our cloakrooms have limited space, we request that teachers and students do not bring large bags/backpacks with them to the performance.
Food and Beverage
Food outlets are located on the Lower Level. Mobile snack carts are also on site. Please note food and drink are permitted inside the foyers, but not in the venues.
Please note: while our cloakrooms are staffed at all time, Sydney Opera House is not responsible for lost or stolen goods.
Running late: Please call the Front of House on 02 9250 7134 to notify us if you are running late.
The Essential Tour
See inside the world's most recognisable sails. Experience this miracle of architecture and engineering. A work of art that came into existence against impossible odds - to become one of the busiest performing arts centres in the world.
Working with new, rich audio-visual components, where images are projected onto the fabric of the building - our guides will take you on an emotional journey, engrossing you in a story to rival any opera plot with its dramatic twists and turns.
You'll visit at least one of our venues - where we live performance every day. Some 1,500 performances, from opera to circus, rock and cabaret, are staged each year to audiences of around 1.5 million.
For school group bookings, call Tourism Reservations on +61 2 9250 7250 or email for more information.
