Sydney Opera House Open Day
Sunday 25 October
FREE EVENT

Sydney Opera House is throwing open the doors and welcomes you to explore inside.

Whether you’re a Sydney-sider or a visitor you can probably draw the famous sails with your eyes closed… but do you know what the inside looks like?

Come inside and discover what really goes on under the white sails. Walk in the footsteps of the famous, see behind the scenes and discover how the House creates over 2,500 performances and events each year.

Go on a journey of discovery into the building, winding your way through the grand theatres, the hub of rehearsal and dressing rooms and technical and production offices. Discover how sound, lighting and sets are used to create a dramatic effect and learn about the types of things you can see and do everyday at the House. Every nook and cranny tells a story of the past 50 years: the people who have performed, the people who have visited and the vision of its creator, Jørn Utzon.

There’ll be action inside and outside - with street entertainers, DJs, Trent Parke’s photography exhibition and a big-screen on the Forecourt. Plus, plenty of opportunity for a delicious lunch or a picnic by the harbour - make sure you check out the Food & Wine Fair on the Northern Broadwalk.
