Imagine a deliveryman who doesn’t deliver.
Special Delivery is a comic fable about a deliveryman who is lured out of the busy-ness of his everyday world, back into the mysteries and endless possibilities of childhood play and imagination. The show opens in a lane way outside a warehouse. A deliveryman arrives with a trolley loaded up high with cardboard boxes which threaten to topple over. Far too busy to remember anything special, things start to change when he looks at his load of boxes and sees something he’s never noticed before…something that changes everything. Brimming with visual humour, illusion and magic, students will revel in a world of sound where nothing is said and where everyday objects are magically transformed, creating countless moments of surprise, wonder and laughter. In an enchanting style of physical banter between the performers, cardboard boxes soon become a springboard to playful possibility. A foley artist performing live sound effects on stage underscores the clever optical illusions and physical comedy. Special Delivery sees the return of the much-loved Patch Theatre Company, renowned for their trademark simplicity, elegance and theatrical invention.
