For this concert, Vladimir Ashkenazy has invited his friend and colleague Pinchas Zukerman and Zukerman’s wife Amanda Forsyth to join him in the performance of Brahms’s glowing and vibrant Double Concerto.  Ashkenazy then revisits the triumph of his 2004 Sibelius Festival with the inspiring Fifth Symphony.

For many great musicians, the pinnacle of music-making is not orchestral music but chamber music. And in the Brahms Double Concerto, the two ideals are united: the grand sound of an orchestra and the intimacy of friends making music together. For this concert, Vladimir Ashkenazy has invited his friend and colleague Pinchas Zukerman and Zukerman’s wife Amanda Forsyth to join him in the performance of Brahms’s glowing and vibrant music.

Ashkenazy then revisits the triumph of his 2004 Sibelius Festival with the inspiring Fifth Symphony. From its quietly noble beginning to the climactic horn calls of its finale, this symphony radiates pure joy.
