AYO with Christoph Eschenbach and Joshua Bell

Description

Internationally renowned violinist Joshua Bell performs Tchaikovsky’s exquisite Violin Concerto and the mighty Christoph Eschenbach leads AYO in Stravinsky's phenomenal The Rite of Spring.

Internationally renowned violinist Joshua Bell performs Tchaikovsky’s exquisite Violin Concerto and the mighty Christoph Eschenbach leads AYO in Stravinsky's phenomenal The Rite of Spring.

Bell calls the piece “the most intimate, elegant, almost balletic warhorse I know!” His talents have long crowned him a “classical music superstar” and his many achievements include a Grammy and the Avery Fisher Prize.

Stravinsky's indomitable The Rite of Spring celebrates its 100th Anniversary in 2013. The unfamiliar harmonies and jagged rhythms caused a furore when originally premiered in 1913 and the work continues to astonish with its pulsating rhythm and sheer, primal abandon. Christoph Eschenbach, last in Australia to lead the Vienna Philharmonic, returns to our shores to conduct Australia’s brightest young musicians  in an outstanding interpretation of this phenomenal work.

Don’t miss your chance to see these incredible artists come together for their concert premiere before embarking on AYO’s 21st International Tour to Europe including  Germany, Amsterdam and Switzerland.
