Description

Supported By Goethe Institut

Five virtuoso wind players from five European countries play together in perfect harmony. A program of 20th century masterpieces for quintet and a spectacular Rite.

The wind quintet is one of the most purely charming of ensembles. The combination of flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn allows for a kaleidoscope of colour and expression, and as you’ll hear in an arrangement of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring , savage energy.

The principal wind players of Frankfurt’s orchestras lead a double life as members of one of Europe’s most acclaimed wind quintets. All brilliant players in their own right, they bring their skills to bear on an extensive repertoire of works old and new in performances at festivals and chamber venues across Europe and the Middle East. They take their name from composer Paul Hindemith, a polymath musician who, it’s said, could play just about every orchestral instrument.
