One of Sydney’s most popular events returns in 2010 with screenings for secondary school students. Message Sticks Indigenous Film Festival is a powerful showcase of the latest Indigenous films by established and emerging directors.

Curated by award-winning filmmakers, Rachel Perkins and Darren Dale, Message Sticks features a selection of documentaries, shorts and features that will provide rare insights into the issues and experiences of indigenous communities. A Q&A after each session gives students a rare opportunity to meet the filmmakers, actors and curators of the Festival. Full program details will be available here from March 2010.

Extension Option: Compliment the Message Sticks experience with a visit to the Museum of Sydney. As students view artworks by Aboriginal artists and explore Gadigal Place, the museum’s Aboriginal gallery, they will consider how the stories of Aboriginal people are told and experienced in the context of a social history museum. $6 per student.
