Description
TERRAIN
The wonder of Lake Eyre
Recommended for students in years 9 -12
Presented as part of Bangarra Dance Theatre’s 2012 season.
"Time and again, Frances Rings creates individual and collective shapes that transfix the attention and spark the imagination.” Sydney Morning Herald
Internationally acclaimed Bangarra Dance Theatre presents a fusion of contemporary dance and storytelling, commissioned by Artistic Director, Stephen Page.
Described as a ‘Hymn to Country’, Terrain transports us to Lake Eyre - the place of Australia’s inland sea; one of the few untouched natural waterways in the world. Bangarra artists explore the innate connection of Indigenous people to country and how their landscape is a second skin.
Three award-winning Aboriginal artists: choreographer Frances Rings, composer David Page, and set designer Jacob Nash create a powerful and evocative production inspired by the timeless beauty of Lake Eyre.
Beyond the ancient vastness we travel through drought and deluge; we witness the ephemeral transformation of place where nature delivers in abundance and promises all - but guarantees nothing.
Students will engage in a post-show discussion to explore Indigenous perspectives and the making of the work.
