Sydney Opera House is proud to present the renowned Sydney Youth Orchestra in a perplexing orchestral whodunit, starring legendary comedian Frank Woodley.

Meet the orchestra, solve the mystery, and laugh until you cry in this cutting-edge introduction to the classical music.

Our detective will interrogate the entire orchestra, establishing their whereabouts at the time of the crime. Starting with the strings and working all the way to percussion, the detective finds sound alibis and dead ends down every sonic avenue.  Commissioned by the San Francisco Symphony  in 2006, composed by Nathaniel Stookey with text by bestselling author Lemony Snicket, this murder mystery is sure to keep young music fans enthralled.

One thing's for sure - no one leaves the Concert Hall until this mystery is solved!

Frank Woodley

Half of the legendary duo Lano and Woodley, Frank Woodley is one of Australia's favourite comedians and actors. He has appeared regularly on our TV screens on the ABC's music quiz show Spicks and Specks, Network TEN's Good News Week and Thank God You're Here.  His debut TV series Woodley premiered on the ABC in 2012, and was created by, written, produced and starring Frank as the title character opposite Justine Clarke.

Frank is a comedy festival circuit pro. His smash hit solo show Possessed played across Australia and the Edinburgh Festival with packed houses and rave reviews. In addition, his animated short, Chicken of God, received an AFI nomination and he won the coveted Herald Angel Award at the Edinburgh Fringe for his role of Candide in the Malthouse Theatre production of Optimism.

This year has seen Frank return to the stage with a new show, Fool's Gold.  You can follow Frank on Facebook for news and upcoming shows.

Craig Ilott

Craig Ilott is an award-winning director with accolade across the spectrum of the Australian theatre industry. In 2006 Craig won a Green Room Award - Best Direction of a Musical, for the Australian production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which was also awarded Best Musical at the Sydney Theatre Awards.

His 2010 productionSmoke & Mirrors had sell-out seasons at two Sydney Festivals, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Melbourne Arts Centre and the Auckland Festival and won three Helpmann Awards including Best New Australian Work.

Most recently he directed Band of Magicians for the 2014 Sydney Festival and Diamonds are for Trevor for Arts Centre Melbourne. Other credits include Misanthropology at the Sydney Festival and La Boheme for Opera Queensland.

KIDS MULTI-SHOW PACKAGE TERMS AND CONDITIONS  

  • Free ticket exchange: Kids Multi-Show Package holders are entitled to one free exchange per season pass. Exchanges can be made for a different time or date of the same performance season only. Any subsequent exchanges are $5.00 per ticket, per exchange.
  • Separately discounted tickets for performances of The Illusionists 2.0, The Magic Flute and Pinocchio do not count towards the total number of productions within a Kids Multi-Show package. Architects of Air, Exxopolis is not available for inclusion in a multi-show package.
  • On booking a multipack, you will receive a follow up email with links to purchase Pinocchio or The Illusionists 2.0 at a discount and without a second transaction fee.
  • The discount for The Magic Flute is not contingent on purchasing a package and may either be added to a package booking online before payment, or purchased separately.
  • The Kids Multi-Show Package Offer can only be applied to tickets purchased to a minimum of three separate performances (does not apply to multiple tickets for the one show/production, or multiple dates of the same production).
  • The number of tickets purchased to each production in a package must match.
  • Additional tickets to a production purchased within the offer are charged at full price, unless comprising part of an additional Multi-Show Package.
  • Tickets must be purchased by the same customer, in the same transaction to receive the package discount.
  • Tickets to additional Kids Multi-Show productions may be added to an existing package at the appropriate discount price later. Patrons must mention this when making an additional purchase and it must be the original purchaser making the second transaction.
