An evening like no other.

Commemorating the visit by His Beatitude and Eminence Mar Beshara Cardinal Rai, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, you and your guests will be delighted as the As Sawt Al'Atiq choir performs in the Melodies of Glory (Koleh d'Shubho).

The Melodies of Glory (Koleh d'Shubho) will reflect the warmth of a heritage that was born in the land of the Phoenicians.

Established in 1997, the 50 choir members and musicians are directed by Father Miled Tarabay, who today is regarded as one of the most learned composers in the Middle East, with a particular respect for the Syro-Maronite heritage and musical genre. Presenting their first Sydney Opera House performance, As Sawt Al'Atiq have delighted audiences in their homeland of Lebanon, and have travelled throughout the world and performed in France, Italy, Australia, Switzerland, Turkey, and Jordan.

Accompanied by musicians who play oriental instruments and an ensemble of traditional percussion instrumentalists, the Choir performs various styles with an artistic focus to reveal the authenticity of the Maronite and of the Lebanese song and preserve their identity. Other performance styles include traditional Arabic compositions and classical compositions in an array of European languages, from the world's greatest composers.

With solo performances by Carla Ramia, Cherine Borgi, and Chady Aidamouni, this evening promises audiences a nostalgic, cultural and musical celebration to enchant the spirit.

Performed in English, Lebanese and Syriac (Aramaic).
