Description

Following his whirlwind Australian debut at Vivid LIVE, the piano prodigy returns on his promise for a personal performance in the intimate surrounds of the Sydney Opera House Studio.
Following his whirlwind Australian debut that delivered a rapturous one-off performance at Vivid LIVE, German piano prodigy Nils Frahm returns on his promise with an intimate appearance in the Sydney Opera House Studio – inviting audiences right to the lip of the stage for a virtuosic display of poignant keyboard melodies, rippling electronics and highlights from last year's career-defining live album, Spaces.

Lauded for his all-live improvisational spirit and open-hearted discourse with fans, the 31-year-old composer has flourished from his Tschaikowski-schooled beginnings to embracing the minimalist tradition of classical greats (Steve Reich, Philip Glass), the boundless stagecraft of jazz legends (Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk), and electronic-minded admirers such as Thom Yorke and Four Tet. Deeply inquisitive and forever-searching for the 'magic and spirit' in every space, Frahm's devotion to the stage and rabid requests has culminated in a live album culled from two years of touring around the world through both iconic concert halls and underground clubs alike.

Breathing new life into old traditions within a circle of new classical contemporaries including Ludovico Einaudi, Max Richter and recent collaborators Ólafur Arnalds and Arcade Fire's Sarah Neufeld, Nils Frahm will now turn to the more intimate surrounds of the Sydney Opera House Studio – going face-to-face with his signature array of pianos, synthesisers and the devoted following that has demanded his return since Vivid LIVE.
