Description

In theatre, a triple threat is someone who can sing, dance and act. In opera, we like to think it’s a triple treat of music, drama and passion. Our three birthday boys – Verdi, Wagner and Britten – had that in spades. In 2013 musicians and music-lovers around the world are marking the bicentenaries of Verdi and Wagner and the centenary of Britten, and we’re delighted to be presenting this program of highlights from some of their greatest creations.

We’re especially excited that two of the greatest Australian opera singers working internationally today, Cheryl Barker and Stuart Skelton, are joining us for the party. This is, we think, going to be a musical highlight of the year.

Program includes highlights from:
Verdi Otello (including the love duet ‘Già nella densa’ and the Willow Song)
Britten Peter Grimes (including ‘Now the Great Bear and Pleiades’ and the Embroidery Aria)
Wagner Tannhäuser

Featuring
Cheryl Barker Soprano
Stuart Skelton Tenor
