This concert will showcase Prokofiev’s charming and virtuosic Flute Sonata and the world premiere of a new piece by Australian composer Cyrus Meurant. 

Description

 The first in a series of concerts which specifically feature various instruments within the Ensemble. This concert will showcase a work where the flute and piano are put to the test with Prokofiev’s charming and virtuosic Flute Sonata. Featured also will be the world premiere of a new piece by innovative Australian composer Cyrus Meurant. 

One of the best-known compositions in the violin repertoire is Franck’s Sonata in A major, which was composed as a wedding present to violinist and friend of the composer Eugène Ysaÿe. The concert concludes with the unparalleled Clarinet Quintet by Johannes Brahms.
