Bruckner at his most impressive and Dvořák's gem of a piano concerto, with Stephen Hough as soloist.

Description

Pianist Stephen Hough brings his trademark polish to Dvořák's brilliant hidden gem of a piano concerto. And Bruckner will draw you into his Sixth Symphony, from delicate string intricacies to vast panoramas of blazing brass. A magnificent exultant and well-deserved finale is the reward.

Bruckner's Sixth might well be one of his most impressive achievements. With this symphony he found a musical voice equal to the breadth of his faith in God. What you'll hear are daring and powerful ideas offset by tender, intimate moments and glorious melodies. And who better to conduct it than fellow-Austrian Hans Graf?

Dvořák's Piano Concerto is a rarity in the concert hall - unjustly so, says its latest champion Stephen Hough. It may have been eclipsed by the popularity of the Cello Concerto, but there's so much to love in it: the gorgeous slow movement, rivalling the Largo from the New World Symphony, and a finale that suggests the flying ribbons and whirling skirts of a Slavonic dance.
