Description

The Sydney Symphony, with Principal Conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy, celebrates the unique and brilliant work of Sergei Prokofiev in a month long exploration of his great orchestral works. As an extension of this
Prokofiev Festival, the Utzon Music Series is thrilled to present an intimate program of chamber music by this master composer, one of the most original and powerful voices in 20th century music.

Join stellar members of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra as they perform some of the most poignant, evocative and moving chamber works in this concert of rarely heard but powerful music.

Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes with no interval

ALEXEY YEMTSOV

ALEXEY YEMTSOV - piano
Alexey was born in the Ukraine and began studying the piano at the age of seven. He came to Australia on full scholarship in 1998 and is currently completing a Masters degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music studying with Gerard Willems. He has given recitals in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia – venues have included Tyalgum Festival, Sydney Festival (Prom Concert), Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Steinway Celebrations in the Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House. He has also performed in the Ukraine, USA and China. He was soloist for President Clinton on his first visit to the Ukraine. He has performed with the Sydney Symphony, Queensland, West Australian and Australian Youth Orchestras with conductors including Vladimir Ashkenazy and Simone Young.
