Sydney - Tuesday 14 February, 2017. The fifth, annual All About Women festival will conclude – and shake off – an empowering and huge day of talks, panels, and performances – with anti-dance class phenomenon No Lights, No Lycra (NLNL).

Conceived in Melbourne in 2009 by dancers Alice Glenn and Heidi Barrett, No Lights, No Lycra (NLNL) is famous for its inclusive, body positive, and truly uninhibited approach to dance.

Now a global dance community found in 76 locations around Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Canada, and the USA, NLNL is strictly, and importantly, no lights, no lycra, no teacher, no imposed choreography, and no technique. It’s purely about the joy of dancing, minus the judgment.

With powerful, curated playlists and a pitch-black dancefloor, NLNL’s mandate is free form movement, exhilarating dance, and self-expression.

After a full day of important and challenging discussions, the NLNL sessions will provide a (sweaty) release for All About Women audiences.

Be quick, tickets will sell out fast.

NLNL is the most recent non-talks addition to the All About Women 2017 program – joining:

  • The weird and wonderful world of Zoë Coombs Marr’s Barry Award-winning show Trigger Warning – picture a feminist comedian dressed as a mouthy male stand-up dressed as a silent Gaulier clown and try not to get too confused! – fresh from sold-out seasons at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Edinburgh Fringe Festival;
  • Comedian, writer, co-creator of live storytelling night/podcast Story Club, and presenter on The Checkout, Zoë Norton Lodge, telling her own hilarious stories in The Solo ‘Story Club’ Show;
  • Ensemble Offspring performs a showcase of curious, bold, and brilliant compositions by women from around the world. Bringing together works from renowned Australian composers Liza Lim, Kate Moore, and Melody Eötvös, and towering international figures Kaija Saariaho and Tatjana Kozlova-Johannes, this is music to be seen, heard, and felt.

All About Women is a highlight festival within the Sydney Opera House’s Talks & Ideas program, a year-round program of events platforming great ideas, extraordinary people, and key moments in contemporary culture.  For the third year in a row Maserati are a proud Event Partner of All About Women.
