Global Conversations: Korea is a Sydney Opera House Digital Learning initiative funded by the Australia-Korea Foundation. The program sees schools in Australia and Korea partner up to participate together in a series of live, interactive digital learning experiences - increasing cross-cultural awareness and collaboration, and developing cultural literacy.
Through participation in these live digital learning experiences, which include digital tours, live-streamed performances and digital workshops, students:
Build a relationship with a partner school in the other country, sharing language, ideas and culture
Develop their understanding of each other's culture
Learn about Sydney Opera House and its role as an iconic Australian place
Increase their cultural and arts literacy and develop practical skills in the performing arts
A total of 772 students from 26 schools participated in a 3-part series of digital activities based around a performance from the Children, Families and Creative Learning program including:
Pete the Sheep – Monkey Baa
A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Bell Shakespeare
Jump First, Ask Later – Force Majeure/PYT
Teachers also attended a 10 day homestay at their sister schools in Korea and Australia which gave them the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding in their partner’s school culture. Teachers participated in a hands on workshops learning about video conferencing equipment, a Creative Learning in Leadership workshop and attended a performance.
