Sydney Symphony Orchestra: Brahms String Sextet No.1 (Premiere)
Digital Season | Recorded live in the Joan Sutherland Theatre
On Demand
Genre: Classical Music
Presented in association with Sydney Symphony Orchestra
In Brahms’ First String Sextet his best qualities shine through – gorgeous melodies and a rich romantic sound.
The sextet adds an extra viola and cello to the conventional string quartet, and Brahms makes full use of the additional lower voices, allowing him to create an intricate blend of light and shade in this intimate and expressive music.
