ABOUT THE INDIGENOUS LITERACY FOUNDATION
Being able to read opens so many doors. But in very remote Indigenous communities, books are all too scarce and literacy levels are so much lower than anywhere else in Australia. The Indigenous Literacy Foundation’s purpose is to make a difference to the lives of Indigenous families by not only gifting thousands of new culturally appropriate books – with a focus on early literacy and first language - but also by running programs to inspire the communities to tell and publish their own stories.
ABOUT MUSICA VIVA
Musica Viva In Schools has been setting the standard in music education since 1981. Their programs inspire, educate and enrich the lives of students and teachers across Australia. Students participate and engage with the very best musicians from around the country, and they support teachers with accredited professional development and curriculum aligned resources. Our supporter community directly enables us to bring positive change through world-class musical encounters. Last year, Musica Viva brought live music performances of quality, diversity, challenge and joy to over half a million people at all stages of their lives. Through over 2,000 live music performances, workshops and forums, Musica Viva touched almost every corner of Australia. With a third of their activity occurring in regional Australia and half of our work dedicated to future generations of musicians and music-lovers, they are in a strong place to reach even more Australians in the years to come. Musica Viva believes that music changes lives and makes our world a better place.
