The best of Australian words and music in a world premiere
This is a story of three women whose lives intertwine through poetry, music and hope.
For more than 20 years, Katie Noonan has been one of Australia’s most successful musical talents, winning five ARIA Awards, going Platinum seven times, fronting bands Elixir and George, and releasing over a dozen studio albums.
As a child, Katie was inspired by acclaimed poet and Minjerriba woman Oodgeroo Noonuccal. Oodgeroo’s bestselling words and ardent activism left an ongoing legacy that is now honoured in Katie’s latest album The Glad Tomorrow, which will be performed live for the very first time at Sydney Opera House.
Katie will be joined on stage by the exceptional Australian String Quartet and Australian actress and Oodgeroo’s great granddaughter Kaleenah Edwards who will perform the poems live.
Some of Australia’s best known composers have contributed to the music of The Glad Tomorrow. In the world premiere performance of these new works, experience brand new composition by familiar names including Carl Vine, Elena Kats-Chernin, Richard Tognetti, Iain Grandage, and David Hirschfelder.
Don’t miss this inspiring, uplifting and utterly unforgettable musical experience.
