The return of a musical comedy icon
From rock ’n’ roll and theatre to smash hit TV shows and high-wire comedy, multi-hyphenate Australian superstar Tim Minchin has taken his talents around the world, be it packing out Wembley Arena and the Royal Albert Hall, or co-writing hit West End musicals Matilda and Groundhog Day. One of the most popular Aussie live acts on the planet, Minchin has been selling out award-winning gigs in the UK, US and Australia for over a decade. His most recent tour, Back – Old Songs New Songs Fuck You Songs, was seen by over a quarter of a million people.
This November, we’re lucky to have him back at the Sydney Opera House for a very special performance on the Forecourt, where he’ll be pounding out a mega set of brilliant songs from his storied, eclectic career with his 8-piece band.
An accomplished singer, songwriter, musician and actor, Minchin has conquered the worlds of comedy, music, theatre and television, from his hit musical comedy shows So Live and Tim Minchin Vs The Heritage Orchestra, Live at the Royal Albert Hall, to his Royal Shakespeare Company-produced musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Matilda, a critical and commercial success that went on to win five Tony Awards. He is the head writer and co star of Foxtel’s multi-award winning Upright, and has worked as an actor in stage, film and television. He continues to write and record music, with his solo debut as a recording artist – 2020’s ARIA charting, pandemic-influenced Apart Together – drawing critical acclaim.
