A folk-pop favourite brings the summer home
Making his return to the Australian stage for the first time since 2018, chart-topping, ARIA-award-winning folk-pop sensation Vance Joy is bringing new music plus his intimate, anthemic sound back to the Sydney Opera House for two shows on the stunning harbourside Forecourt – the perfect way to welcome the summer season. This will be the multi-platinum singer-songwriter’s first Opera House performance since he wowed the Concert Hall back in 2016.
Following his irresistible, ukulele-driven breakout single “Riptide”, which topped the Triple J Hottest 100 in 2013, Vance Joy soared to international acclaim with a multi-album deal on Atlantic Records and his 2014 full-length debut, Dream Your Life Away. An ARIA award for Best Male Artist soon followed, as did a sold-out North American tour, performances at Coachella and Lollapalooza, and a handpicked opening slot on Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour. Vance Joy’s 2017 follow-up album, Nation of Two, saw him launch his biggest global tour to date, including two sold-out shows at his hometown’s Rod Laver Arena. His most recent single is 2021’s heartfelt indie anthem, the Platinum-selling “Missing Piece”.
Supporting Vance Joy will be one of Australia’s hottest young talents, Indigenous singer-songwriter Budjerah, whose blend of old-school soul and contemporary R&B has dazzled audiences across the country, and rising Australian pop musician Mia Wray, nominated for Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2021 AIR Awards.
