Sing & Play Session - Friday, 1 December 10.30am
Show: 10.30am - 11.15am
Sing & Play Session: 11.15am - 12.00pm
The Sydney Opera House Access Program has partnered with Lifestart organisation, to offer families the opportunity to attend an access-friendly kids and families performance as well as experience a play area and music therapy session in the foyer along-side the performance.
These sessions are designed to ensure young children with disability and their families are able to enjoy a performance experience in a supportive, welcoming and relaxed environment and have the added opportunity for a deeper engagement with the Opera House through the free Sing and Play session.
As part of these sessions attending patrons are able to:
- Enter the theatre early to get settled before the show.
- Sing a welcome song with the Sing and Play music therapist before the performance begins to help settle and regulate the children and prepare them for watching a performance (depending on the production).
- Experience a performance environment that is designed to be welcoming to all children with disabilities and their families. Patrons are free to come and go from the theatre during the performance and theatre lights remain on at low levels.
- Families are offered a FREE Sing and Play session in the Foyer with a range of mixed play activities facilitated by the Lifestart team, as well as a supported music program facilitated by a music therapist and based on the musical themes from the performance.
