Barbara Kingsolver

An award winning novelist, essayist and poet, Barbara Kingsolver is best known for her bestselling novel, The Poisonwood Bible about an American missionary family in the Congo. Her novel The Lacuna won the Orange Prize for Fiction. Since June 2004, Kingsolver and her family have lived on a farm in Southern Appalachia, where they tend an extensive vegetable garden and Icelandic sheep. She believes her best work is accomplished through writing and being an active citizen of her own community.
