Festival of Instrumental Music

Festival Of Instrumental Music

The Festival of Instrumental Music features musically diverse performances from 1000 public school students in Combined Recorders and String Ensembles, supported by individual items from exceptionally talented vocalists, instrumental soloists and ensembles.

The Combined Recorder repertoire includes Schubert’s March Militaire and Six Ribbons, one of Jon English’s compositions, featuring a soprano soloist.

The Combined String repertoire features Ludwig’s Tango by Richard Meyer who transforms Beethoven’s famous Symphony No. 5 into a delightful tango, a miniature string symphony, Sinfonia in D by Elliot Del Borgo, and Tarantella by Brisbane composer Loreta Fin.

The finale to the concert will bring the two Ensembles together to perform Krasniye Saposhki (Red Boots) by Paul and Tracy Burjan, inspired by Paul’s rich Ukrainian heritage.
