The master of Italian Baroque
Baroque music was conceived in Florence in the late 16th century when a group of artists sought to recreate the sung dramas of ancient Greece, and accidentally invented opera. Spanning the next two centuries, Baroque music was cultivated by Italian composers who were devoted to bringing emotion and drama to every performance. In this concert, Erin Helyard teams up with Australia’s most exceptional young musicians to explore the theatricality and passion of neglected masterpieces by some of the greatest and most influential composers of the Italian baroque.
Let the internationally acclaimed master of early music, Erin Helyard, be your guide to the Italian Baroque.
Presented by the Sydney Opera House in association with the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
