Dance Rites 2018

The Muggera Dancers come from a long line of cultural leaders, song men, world-class dancers and didgeridoo players with a formidable respect for culture.

On the Forecourt

In 2015 Darren Compton and Jacqui Cornforth founded Muggera Dancers, a family group who prides itself on its cultural knowledge and professionalism. All members of Muggera have been performing and sharing their culture for many years and have been guided by their Elders over many decades.

Muggera has ongoing support from community and family Elders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities to share culture, establish the Muggera Dance group and set a new standard for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural performance and engagement in Australia.

Presented by the Sydney Opera House.

Witness the powerful coming together of traditional customs and contemporary culture, with hundreds of First Nations dancers from around Australia and performers from around the world.

Join us on the Forecourt, a First Nations meeting place for thousands of years, to share in this free festival of live dance, music and community.
