This program is recommended for Early Stage 1 - Stage 3. 

This event is free for Australian schools

All digital programs are free to Australian schools and can be viewed with video conferencing facilities or YouTube. Terms and conditions apply. Fees apply for all international bookings.

A $100 cancellation charge applies if you cancel within 7 days of your booking. In this case, an invoice will be issued and payment must be made directly to Sydney Opera House within 7 business days.

Who will win the Illustrator Battle of 2020?

Join two of Australia’s most recognisable illustrators as they have a live drawing battle that will have your kids inspired to get creative! 

Ben Sanders is best known for his vibrant characters on the Natural Confectionery Co. packs and for his acclaimed children’s picture books, I’ve an Uncle Ivan, My Book (not yours) and My Pet (not yours). He has recently returned from living in the High Andes of Bolivia, where he worked with BiblioWorks - who assist street kids and establish libraries in remote areas. Sha’an d’Anthes is a young artist taking Instagram by storm. Her career as an artist and illustrator has seen her exhibit and sell her work all over the world. Her debut book Zoom, is an adventure story full of fun sounds, action and images. Follow Sha’an on Instagram @furrylittlepeach 

Together they will demonstrate their unique styles and techniques for bringing themes and characters alive right in front of your eyes!

Frequently Asked Questions

What equipment do I need?

All you need is an internet connection! Schools can connect with one of two video conference systems; Through DART connections with a Tandberg or Polycom unit or through Zoom Conferencing in an internet browser.

If you require technical assistance with your video conferencing facilities, contact your schools’ tech support or alternatively contact our Creative Learning team on 02 9250 7770. NSW Department of Education schools can also call the DART Connections helpdesk on 02 6884 0241.

How do I book?

Click on the link for your preferred DART Connections session time. If it is the first time you have used DART Connections you will be required to set up a username and password. 

Please note that DART connections is the booking platform for all of our sessions and you will need to book here even if you intend to connect with Zoom.

How can I arrange a test call prior to the session?

Contact our Creative Learning team on 02 9250 7770 or to arrange a test call.

What if I need to change or cancel my booking?

Should you discover that the time or date you have previously booked is not suitable, please contact Sydney Opera House Creative Learning on 02 9250 7770 or and we will try our best to accommodate you.

Please note that cancellation fees apply for schools who fail to dial-in on the day.

How can I prepare my class for their session?

To ensure your students get the most out of the experience, a Teachers’ Resource Pack is available for this program (see the top of the page). We recommend using these resources in advance of your digital excursion.

How many students can I have participate in the one group?

As the program is interactive, we recommend a maximum of 30 students in one classroom for the session.
