Hunting for inspiration

Digital workshop

Connect with us via Zoom for this new storytelling workshop, developed to accommodate students learning from home. 

Students will be asked to collect a list of objects from around their home or classroom to help inspire a fun and unique story, taking them on a scavenger hunt adventure! 

For teachers with students in your classroom or at home. 

Booking information     Maximum of 30 students per session

To ensure the best experience, each workshop session is limited to one classroom with a maximum of 30 students. 

The workshop has been developed to accommodate for students learning from home. It is run through Zoom and designed for students on multiple seperate logins.

This program is recommended for Early Stage 1 - Stage 1 & Stages 2 - 3.

Session times are seperated by year group.

Relaxed performances are open to everyone, but with modifications to made be more suited for children on the autism spectrum, individuals with other disabilities that create sensory sensitivities and anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed environment.

This event is free for Australian schools

This digital programs is free to Australian schools and can be viewed via Zoom video conferencing in a web browser. Terms and conditions apply. 

A $100 cancellation charge applies if you cancel within 7 days of your booking. In this case, an invoice will be issued and payment must be made directly to Sydney Opera House within 7 business days.

Schools should be dialed-in 15 minutes prior to the commencement of the session. Program duration is a guide only and may be subject to change.

A scavenger hunt adventure! 

In this brand new storytelling workshop, speaking, listening, and storytelling skills will be built while working with a presenter to create an original story using their scavenged stimuli.

This workshop explores the structure and stages of a narrative, while encouraging the development of original, imaginative story ideas inspired by a child’s own world.

Frequently Asked Questions

What equipment do I need?

All you need is an internet connection! Students can connect through Zoom Conferencing as a classroom or sign in on individual computers.

If you require technical assistance with your video conferencing facilities, contact your schools’ tech support or alternatively contact our Creative Learning team on 02 9250 7770. NSW DEC schools can also call the DART Connections helpdesk on 02 6884 0241.

How do I book?

For NSW Schools click on the link for your preferred DART Connections session time. If it is the first time you have used DART Connections you will be required to set up a username and password. 

For interstate Australian schools and international schools, complete the enquiry form.

How can I arrange a test call prior to the session?

Contact our Creative Learning team on 02 9250 7770 or to arrange a test call.

Is Zoom secure?

Sydney Opera House uses Zoom to deliver its Digital Creative Learning and Creative Leadership in Learning programs. The NSW Department of Education has approved the use of Zoom for all year levels. 

Sydney Opera House maintains an enterprise licence for Zoom and secures its Zoom sessions by using passwords and random meeting IDs. Zoom protects participants’ privacy by letting them blur out everything in the camera’s field of view, except themselves. Sydney Opera House does not record these sessions through Zoom’s built-in recording feature or through other means except with participants’ consent.

To interact with Sydney Opera House using Zoom you need to either know the password for that specific session, or have the meeting link with the embedded password

What if I need to change or cancel my booking?

Should you discover that the time or date you have previously booked is not suitable, please contact Sydney Opera House Creative Learning on 02 9250 7770 or and we will try our best to accommodate you.

Please note that cancellation fees apply for schools who fail to dial-in on the day.

How can I prepare my class for their session?

Once your booking is confirmed, our Creative Learning team will send you an email with all the details to prepare your students, including an activity sheet to use during the workshop. 

How many students can I have participate in the one group?

As the program is interactive with one presenter,  there is a maximum of one classroom of 30 students per session.
