Celebrate hip hop’s past and future
Deejay x Dancer pits veteran DJ Total Eclipse against three killer Australian Breakers: Anastasios Repousi, Justice Crew member and winner of Australia’s Got Talent; Aaron Lim, founder of the Northern Territory’s b-boy crew D*City Rockers, and Demi Sorono from So You Think You Can Dance.
Deejay x Dancer demonstrates the intricate interplay between dancer and the decks, and how they improvise and respond to each other in the heart-racing heat of the moment. Riffing on this initial spark from the birth of hip hop culture almost 50 years ago, Deejay x Dancer merges past and contemporary influences to push the boundaries of the form.
If you’ve ever wanted to experience the playfulness and sense of community at the heart of a block party, this one’s for you! So, grab your friends and join us for an uplifting, energetic night of dance.
Deejay x Dancer is commissioned by Sydney Opera House as part of New Work Now, enabled by Taylor Construction Group.
