Arabian Nights

1001 Arabian Nights is famous for the many stories it brought to the world – Aladdin and the magic lamp, Sinbad the Sailor and Ali Baba, Prince of thieves – but less so for its most important character, Scheherazade who tells these tales over 1001 nights.

In a series of musical vignettes Scheherazade is portrayed by a dazzling solo violin who dances through the stories of Sinbad at sea, of princes and festivals, and some of the most glorious melodies ever written.

Alexander Shelley Conductor

DEBUSSY Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun
