Celebrate 20 years of poetic power with the neo-soul powerhouse

Before Lizzo, Janelle Monáe, and Solange, there was Philly’s own Miss Jill Scott, an R&B poet who brought a celebratory sense of empowerment, playfulness, and body positivity to music alongside Opera House alumni Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill. After writing the simmering “You Got Me” for Erykah Badu and The Roots, her classic 2000 debut, Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1, blended funk, R&B, jazz, blues, and Scott’s evocative spoken words to stunning effect, generating a genre-busting blueprint with anthems like “A Long Walk”, “The Way” and setting the bar high for generations to come.

In only her second ever Australian appearance, this May, the multiple-Grammy Award-winning musician, actress and poet celebrates the 20th anniversary of her stone cold classic debut album, playing Who Is Jill Scott? in its entirety at Vivid LIVE across four joyous, intimate performances in the Joan Sutherland Theatre.

Miss Scott will also perform some of her biggest hits, in an exclusive Australian residency you won’t want to miss.

Presented by Sydney Opera House.
