“Mac threatened to raise this old theatre's rafters with the biggest, booming-est mezzo-soprano this side of [Adele], and pop-soul songwriting skills headed for the same world-beating league.”

Australian indie-soul icon makes her Sydney Opera House debut
Meg Mac has been keeping a low profile since her top-10 album Hope and her Give Me Back My Name tour, but that’s all about to change as she makes her Sydney Opera House debut at Vivid LIVE. With hot new single 'Is It Worth Being Sad' blowing up playlists, the Australian indie-soul powerhouse will light up the Joan Sutherland Theatre with all her hits, plus preview a selection of new music from her hugely anticipated third album, due later this year.
Moving past the early, inevitable comparisons to fellow songstress Adele, Mac – aka Sydney’s own Megan McInerney – broke out in 2015 with her old-school flavoured hit 'Roll Up Your Sleeves' and her ARIA-nominated, self-titled debut EP, which was followed by the top-five full-length Low Blows and its fiery, smash title track. In 2019, she returned with a second top-10 album in Hope, a defiant collection which yielded the hits 'Something Tells Me’ and the empowering 'Give Me My Name Back'.
Her just-released single, the sonically grand 'Is It Worth Being Sad', was produced by Kendrick Lamar and H.E.R. duo The Donuts, announcing her bold move into a brand new era.
We can’t wait to experience the sound of Mac’s voice live – vocals that will leave you rattled, renewed and ready for more.
