“Ambient pop that keeps getting stranger… thumping, haunting, and asymmetric; it feels like a close encounter with death itself.”
The FADER on Croation Amor
Melbourne’s dreamy cult faves meet Scandinavian synth-pop
Curated by 3NDLES5 – aka Mitch Tolman from Sydney’s post-punk heroes Low Life – Posh Isolation is the sound of Scandinavia crashing Down Under, of Nordic noise mingling with the music of Australia’s bar-rooms, band spaces and backyard bunkers. Across two nights of blistering rock, dreamy cult grooves and synth-pop, some of the most exciting artists from Denmark and Sweden join forces with local faves from Sydney and Melbourne at The Studio for Vivid LIVE.
HTRK
Since their debut nearly two decades ago, Melbourne cult duo Jonnine Standish and Nigel Yang have captivated fans with their intimate, spectral soundscapes, journeying from dark, hypnotic electro minimalism through growling experimental rock, skeletal noise and seductively delicate, folk-influenced acoustics. Their 2014 classic Psychic 9-5 Club is frequently cited as one of the greatest albums of the decade, while their latest, 2021’s Rhinestones, drew widespread acclaim for its exploration of gothic country sounds. HTRK return to Vivid LIVE after their memorable debut in 2022.
YL Hooi
The sonic project of Melbourne-based producer Valya Ying-Li Hooi, YL Hooi’s mysterious brand of dub, minimal synth, post-punk experimentation and dream-pop has seen them cultivate a unique space in the city’s underground music scene. This is their Vivid LIVE and Sydney Opera House debut.
Croatian Amor
Croatian Amor is the solo alias of Loke Rahbek, the Copenhagen-based sound artist that runs the influential Scandinavian experimental music label Posh Isolation. His otherworldly electronic sounds occupy a liminal space between the phases of life, exploring pop artefacts and synthetic realms. This is his Vivid LIVE and Sydney Opera House debut.
Lust For Youth
Swedish electronic musician Hannes Norrvide and Danish producer and guitarist Malthe Fischer make a vibrantly shimmering brand of synth pop and post-punk that brings the sound New Order, The Smiths, Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys to the 21st-century dancefloor. This is their Vivid LIVE and Sydney Opera House debut.
